YT Digest – Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 14, 2026
YT Digest is designed to keep your content private and give you control over what is shared.
What We Do Not Collect
YT Digest does not collect or send your YouTube video titles, video IDs or URLs, transcripts, transcript searches, ChatGPT prompts or responses, clipboard contents, Google account details, email address, or authentication credentials for analytics.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising or personalized advertising, share it with data brokers, or use it for credit decisions. YT Digest does not require an account or API key, and the developer does not operate a server that receives your transcript or ChatGPT content.
What Stays on Your Device
Transcript reading, searching, formatting, copying, downloading, and timestamp navigation happen locally in your browser. YT Digest may also keep activity history—such as video titles, video IDs, timestamps, and actions—locally in Chrome Storage so it can show your statistics in the extension popup. This local history stays on your device, and you can reset it from the popup or clear it through Chrome.
Optional Anonymous Analytics
Anonymous analytics is off by default. If you choose Allow analytics, YT Digest uses the Google Analytics platform to receive limited product-usage signals, such as which features are used, whether Split View was active, a broad video-length range, and the extension version. These signals help us understand which features are useful and improve YT Digest; they do not include your video, transcript, search, ChatGPT, or clipboard content.
You can turn Anonymous analytics off at any time in the extension popup. Doing so stops future analytics and removes the analytics identifier and session information stored by the extension on your device. Analytics data is configured for 14-month retention and is processed under Google's Privacy Policy.
Your Control
- You decide whether to allow anonymous analytics, and you can turn it off at any time.
- You can reset local activity statistics from the extension popup.
- You can clear all extension data through Chrome or by uninstalling YT Digest.
Changes to This Policy
If YT Digest's data practices change, this policy will be updated before or when those changes are released, along with any additional notice or consent that may be required.
Independence
YT Digest is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, OpenAI, or ChatGPT.
