YT Digest respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the extension processes, how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.

Summary

YT Digest does not require an account or API key. It does not send information to servers operated by the developer, sell personal information, or use information for advertising. The extension processes YouTube transcript information locally and transfers text to ChatGPT only when you choose a feature that does so.

Information Processed by the Extension

YT Digest may process the following information to provide its user-facing features:

• YouTube transcript information: Transcript text and timestamps from the YouTube video you are viewing. This information is processed locally to display, search, copy, download, and navigate the transcript.
• Local activity statistics: YouTube video IDs, video titles, timestamps, and records of transcript, download, and summarization actions. These statistics are stored locally in Chrome Storage and displayed in the extension popup.
• Temporary ChatGPT transfer data: When you choose Summarize or Create Post, the selected transcript text and prompt are stored temporarily in Chrome Storage so they can be inserted into the ChatGPT prompt field. The temporary entry is removed after insertion.
• Clipboard content: When you click Copy Formatted on ChatGPT, the extension reads the response copied by ChatGPT, formats that text locally, and writes the formatted result back to your clipboard. Clipboard access occurs only in response to this user action.

How Information Is Used

The information above is used only to provide YT Digest's single purpose: helping you view and work with YouTube transcripts and use transcript text with ChatGPT. This includes transcript display, search, timestamps, copying, downloading, creating selected excerpts, local statistics, and formatting copied ChatGPT responses.

Storage and Retention

• Transcript processing and formatting take place locally in your browser.
• Activity statistics remain in Chrome Storage until you reset them in the extension popup, clear the extension's site data, or uninstall the extension.
• Temporary ChatGPT transfer data is removed after it is inserted into the ChatGPT prompt field. You may also remove it by clearing the extension's stored data or uninstalling the extension.
• The developer does not operate a backend server for YT Digest and does not receive or retain this information.

Third-Party Services

• YouTube: The extension reads transcript information associated with the YouTube video you are viewing. Your use of YouTube remains subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• ChatGPT: When you choose Summarize or Create Post, YT Digest opens ChatGPT and inserts transcript text into its prompt field. The extension does not automatically submit the prompt; you decide whether to send it. If you submit it, OpenAI processes the text under OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

YT Digest does not sell, rent, or share information with data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties. The user-directed transfer to ChatGPT described above is the only transfer facilitated by the extension.

Information Not Collected by the Developer

• YT Digest does not collect authentication credentials, Google account IDs, or email addresses.
• YT Digest does not collect financial, health, or precise location information.
• YT Digest does not transmit your browsing activity, transcripts, clipboard content, or local statistics to the developer.
• YT Digest does not use information for advertising, credit decisions, or data profiling.

Your Choices

• Transcript information is transferred to ChatGPT only when you click Summarize or Create Post.
• Clipboard processing occurs only when you click Copy Formatted.
• You can reset local activity statistics from the extension popup.
• You can clear all extension data through Chrome or by uninstalling YT Digest.

Website Analytics

The RapidAppWorks website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and interactions with the website, including page views, general traffic sources, feature-section views, and clicks that open the Chrome Web Store listing. Google may process information such as device and browser details, approximate location derived from an IP address, and cookie or similar identifiers. YT Digest does not include Google Analytics inside the Chrome extension, and website analytics does not give the developer access to your YouTube transcripts or ChatGPT content.

Google processes analytics data under Google's Privacy Policy. You can limit analytics through your browser settings, content blockers, or Google's available opt-out tools.

Changes to This Policy

If YT Digest's data practices change, this policy will be updated before or when those changes are released, and any additional notice or consent required by applicable policy or law will be provided.

Independence

YT Digest is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, OpenAI, or ChatGPT.
